What is your favourite piece of equipment to work with?
What is a machine you just can't get to grips with?
For me a think I'm pretty slick with a 360 excavator now
And just can't work with the bulldozers or grader

I love using the Wheel Loader when working with the Dozer. I love the excavator too.
I don't like using the cold plainer. Just a lot of work to get a little done and the assistant you have to micro manage like crazy.

Love the cranes, and I'm getting pretty savvy with excavators. I struggled with efficiency with the dozers but it's definitely coming around. I agree that there's a lot to manage with the milling machine and the helper. The helper function needs to be more intuitive, perhaps including the ability to have the helper dump the millings and resume operations...might mean having a second dump truck available but that would only increase realism.
I feel like the grader is so underplayed. It's a huge part of roadwork and it's not even required for most jobs in this game. Dumping the base course, using the grader to hit all your survey pins (for grade and material thickness) and then beginning compaction is how it should go.
As for machines I just can't get "into"...probably the wheeled excavators. Not yet anyway.

That's a great idea.

My favorite and worse piece of equipment will probably be the dozer(s), not for sure if anyone has really operated a dozer or not but this is really close to a real one.. you cant cut too much in the ground or you will bog down, dont cut enough and you are just wasting your time.... which for me i still waste my time but pushing the dirt into a ramp and ramping the D8T dozer.. but to me the key to the dozer is slight blade movement and repetitive back and forth "straight" paths. My worse vehicle to operate has to be the road paving equipment only due to the high cost of the hot mix and low earnings for the job... also the 14 year old hire help driving the dumptruck for the road work too.

Bigholt...all really great observations. The dozer operation is probably one of the most accurate for real world, at least as far as equipment goes. Not much you can say about a dump truck or a semi being accurate (except the handling is sorely lacking in the game). I think the grader and the cranes are the farthest from accurate. The helper function needs a lot of work...it very much needs more intuitive tracking with less wheel turns and more minor adjustments. I can't believe how many times I pan out to see the truck is sideways, backed into a yard completely stuck.

also the 14 year old hire help driving the dumptruck for the road work too. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL! Very true, as soon as you said that. I remembered Desert Springs and the disfunction of that assistant. I learned to manually put the truck straight ahead of the spill arm and just turn him off before I turn around. Reset him and do it again. This is why I don't care too much for cold planing or laying asphalt. Although I do like using the Dozers. Just don't have the skill to build ramps to jump things like BigHolt.

personally hate the cold planer as the helper function on the dump truck is shit! I tried using the bigger dump truck but there's no helper feature. Haven't found a fav yet, thought it would be the bull dozer but still trying to get the hang of that.

I think most of us concur that the planer is kinda cool (and realistic) but a pain in the rear due to the lack of aptitude on the helper's part. Hopefully the devs are busy enrolling the helper in driver's ed to help us all out on the next update!

Thanks cranefanatic and greywolf, but i try to be very obversant and to look for loopholes in the system that the average gamer dont think about, like the building of the ramps, which takes a bit of time. But thats part of the fun. Which i also have found out on the dozer that when pushing dirt you will tend to get a lil wave action going on in the dirt, if you leave the blade in the lower position and drag it backwards it can actually smooth out the waves and any bumps making the next "cutting" path smoother and easier.

Bigholt, back-dragging is essential to cutting a decent rough grade, and I haven't tinkered with it much in-game. I'll have to go give it a whirl! Thanks for the reminder.

Took a quick look, looks like a great resource. Thanks.

Ok, changed my mind, now I just plane without the dump truck, dislike the grader the most. Just seems underutilized and controls don't seem to work as I feel they should.
